I was guarded, worried that it would sugar-coat or romanticize the “homeless” thing. But it looks to me like they really got it right.

I walked out thinking it was perfect, and I’ve never really thought that about a movie before.

Rather than try to write a witty review (about a movie based on a book drawn from newspaper columns based on a friendship–whew!) I’ll give you some video snippets. First, the trailer. Below that, a 60-Minutes feature about the real Mr. Ayers and Mr. Lopez, the two main characters.
