A Beautiful Gathering

The memorial service was a beautiful gathering. It was crowded, bigger than anything we’d done in that park before. But we had just enough food to go ’round, beautiful flowers, and lots of connection. Tears flowed, and I had the feeling that folks really got to do the mourning they needed to do.

Here’s a news video about it.

In the process of preparing this memorial event I remembered James David often. One of the hardest moments was when I anticipated that he’d really enjoy the food we’d be bringing, only to remember that he wouldn’t be sharing that meal with us. That’s how much I’d come to expect him to be among us.

Several people who were close to James here in Eugene weren’t at the gathering, for various reasons. I missed them, but I understand the circumstances that kept each away.

Thank you Angela for all you have done for James, for his family, and for his many friends.

    In Loving Memeory

If tears could build a stairwell and memories were a lane, I would walk right up to Heaven and bring you home again.
No Farewell words were spoken, no time to say good-bye….
You were gone before I knew it, and only God knows why.
My heart still aches in sadness and secret tears still flow, What it means to lose you no one will ever know.

    Dave,
You will forever be in my heart!! i have been blessed with a beautiful daughter that only you could’ve given me!! I see your infectious smile everyday and know that, together, we have created a little piece of heaven right here on earth!! I love you, Dave!! I take comfort in the fact that you will rest in peace and you have finally kissed the sky!!

  5. Ruth says:

Seleste, It’s been many years since I last saw you. Thanks for the kind words posted here. Dave and I talked pretty regular over the past few years. I know that he is at peace. Take care, Ruth
